Pair Indicted In Monroe Woman's Death

HAMILTON--Two men have been indicted by a Butler County grand jury in connection with the shooting death of a Monroe woman last week. 22 year old Jordan Lay of Mason is facing charges of murder, felony assault, and tampering with evidence, and 23 year old Nicholas Mattox of Trenton is accused of tampering with evidence in the death of 32 Amy Risner, who's body was found at a home on the 100 block of Anne Road in Monroe. The pair will be arraigned February 19th in front of Common Pleas Judge Gregory Howard.
 

Fairfield Company Closing

FAIRFIELD--A Fairfield delivery company who does work for Amazon is closing. Bear Down Logistics has filed a WARN notice with the State Department of Job and Family Services, saying there will be a total closure of the facility at 4520 Port Union Road on April 13th. The company employs 105 workers, all of whom will lose their jobs.
 

Pedestrian Accident Claims Retired And Beloved School Cook

FAIRFIELD--A woman who was hit by a car in Fairfield Monday has died of her injuries. The victim, 62 year old Mary Ann Rapien of Ross Township, passed away Tuesday at University Hospital in Cincinnati, according to the Hamilton County Coroner's Office. The accident happened at the intersection of Nilles Road and Bibury Road. "Mimi" Rapien was a longtime cook at St. Joseph Consolidated School in Hamilton, retiring in 2018 after 25 years of service. 
 

West Chester Police Looking For Theft, Pursuit Suspects

WEST CHESTER--Police have released photos of four suspects who allegedly stole a number of items from the Walmart on Cincinnati-Dayton Road on January 19th. The suspects got into a silver Buick, and later led police on a pursuit that had to be stopped because of safety concerns. Prosecutor Wants Hearing Delay For Accused Killers

HAMILTON--Butler County Prosecutor Mike Gmoser is asking for a one day delay in the preliminary hearing for two murder suspects. 22 year old Jordan Lay of Mason and 23 year old Nicholas Mattox of Trenton are facing aggravated murder charges in the death of Amy Risner, who's body was found at a home on Anne Road in Monroe last week. Gmoser wants the hearing held Thursday 1pm at Area One Court in Oxford.
 

Pair Charged With Monroe Murder

Two men are due in Area Two Court this morning to face arraignment on Aggravated Murder charges. 22 year old Jordan James Lay of Mason, and 23 year old Nicholas Alan Mattox are accused of killing 32 year old Amy Louise Risner, who's body was found on the 100 block of Anne Road in Monroe around 4pm Tuesday evening. Risner's death has been ruled a homicide by the Butler County Coroner's office, even though her cause of death has not been released. According to a criminal complaint filed in the case, Lay confessed to killing Risner on Monday. Both men are being held without bond in the Butler County Jail.
