Region Braces For Overnight Storms

The National Weather Service says a strong cold front will slam into Southwest Ohio overnight, bringing a line of thunderstorms expected to cause damaging winds, and possibly tornadoes. The storms were expected to hit sometime after 1:00am, according to a briefing from the weather service office in Wilmington. The damaging wind impact is expected to be significant. Duke Energy spokesperson Sally Thelen tweeted that sustained winds after the storm blows through may hinder restoration efforts. Since the storms will take place at night, you should have a weather radio to alert you. The @WMOHNEWSWIRE Twitter account forwards real time weather warnings for Butler County when issued by the National Weather Service.

Badin License Bill Advances

Fans of Badin High School are a step closer to driving home their support for the Rams...literally. The Ohio House Transportation and Public Safety Committee has approved H.B. 394, which would create a license plate dedicated to Badin High School. Butler County State Representative Sara Carruthers (pictured) provided sponsor testimony in favor of the bill. If approved, supporters will pay a $30 annual fee for the plates, which would include Badin's logo. The money would go to the school's general fund. The bill now goes on to the full house for a vote. Carruthers says Hamilton, Fairfield, and Ross High Schools already have their own license plates.

Expansion Plans Approved For Two Hamilton Manufacturers

More jobs are coming to Hamilton after two major manufacturers get tax credits from the state. ThyssenKrupp Bilstein will create 75 new jobs and 6 million dollars in new payroll after getting an eight year tax credit for the expansion of their facility. Vinylmax will add 150 new jobs at their facility in Hamilton Enterprise Park. They get a seven year credit that will add $5.6 million in annual payroll. Lt. Governor Jon Husted (pictured) made the announcement Monday.

Jones: Those Who Prey On Elderly Will Regret It

Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones says the suspect in a purse snatching case wanted police to hurry and take him into custody. Jones says 58 year old Derek Vaughn was tackled by 27 year old Deshawn Pressley and other shoppers at the Engle's Corner Kroger Store after he took the purse of an 87 year old woman. Jones says sometimes suspects can get roughed up during citizen arrests.Vaughn was released after posting $55,000 bond in Middletown Municipal Court. He has been ordered to appear in court again for a preliminary hearing on December 13th.

Badin Falls Just Short of State Title

CANTON--Sean Carr's two yard touchdown run with just over a minute to go lifted the Chardon Hilltoppers to a 21-14 win over the Badin Rams in the Division-III State Championship game at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton. Badin senior running back  Jack Walsh scored with a two yard run in the 2nd Quarter and Carter Russo had a six yard run in the 3rd for the Rams, who finished the season at 14-1 and state runner-up. Walsh ran for 96 yards on 27 carries. Sophomore quarterback Alex Ritzie was 7-of-16 for 62 yards, and was sacked three times by Chardon's tough defense.
