Hard Times Murder Suspect Arrested


Hamilton police have arrested a suspect charged with the shooting death of a man outside a local bar. 24 year old Charles Deonte McDonald was taken into custody by Hamilton detectives during a visit with his probation officer in Cincinnati. McDonald is charged with Felonious Assault and Murder for his part in the January 15th incident in the parking lot of the Hard Times Bar that left 23 year old Robert Goens with a gunshot wound to the chest. Goens was flown to University Hospital, where he died of his injuries.


Fairfield Lands Hundreds of New Jobs


Fairfield City Council has approved an incentive package to lure Veritiv Incorporated's Loveland headquarters to the Gilmore Pointe office building at Mack and Gilmore Roads. Veritiv spokesman Ed Patterson told City Council they will occupy 75,000 square feet in the new facility, which is owned by Cincinnati Financial Corporation and operated by Collier's International. The project is expected to be completed later this year, and will result in over 400 new jobs for the city.


Former Sheriff Richard Holzberger Dies


Former Butler County Sheriff Richard Holzberger has passed away after suffering a massive stroke Saturday. He was 70. Holzberger was a Hamilton policeman who was also a traffic reporter for WMOH Radio before he ran for sheriff and won in 1988. He left the sheriff's office 4 years later, and was elected to Hamilton City Council where he served through 2003. Holzberger also owned a convenience store in downtown Hamilton, which he decided to close at the end of December. Funeral arrangements are pending.
