Police Investigate Deadly Crash

Hamilton police continue their investigation into a deadly rear-end collision that claimed the life of a woman Friday. The accident happened on westbound Ohio 129 just east of Fair Avenue when a Jeep Liberty was hit in the rear by a concrete bucket truck. The Jeep burst into flames, and the driver, who was trapped inside, could not escape the fire. The Butler County Coroner’s Office pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The crash shut down the highway for several hours, tying up downtown traffic during the evening rush hour. Police have not yet identified the victim, or the driver of the truck. Smoke from the vehicle fire could be seen for miles around. A yellow cross with pink, yellow, and white flowers was placed in the median where the crash occurred. It was surrounded by charred grass and concrete.

Three Arrested In Rash Of Robberies

Hamilton police have arrested three men in connection with a recent rash of bank robberies. 40 year old Lester Burns, 33 year old Brian James Lyons, and 24 year old Steve Lyons were taken into custody Friday, one day after the Union Savings Bank at 1225 Main Street was robbed. The trio are also facing charges from the September 21st robbery at the Fifth Third Bank on 902 NW Washington Boulevard, and the U.S. Bank at 540 Main Street. Fairfield Township police were also looking into a possible connection to the recent robbery of the Huntington Bank branch at Bridgewater Falls. Burns is facing three counts of robbery, Brian Lyons is facing two counts of robbery, and Steve Lyons has been charged with a single count of robbery. The trio are due to be arraigned in Hamilton Municipal Court on Monday.
