The CEO of Cracker Barrel, who has recently come under fire for a controversial rebrand of the restaurant chain, is a graduate of Miami University. Julie Felss Masino attended Miami from 1989-1993, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. She went on to work for a number of companies over her 32 year career, including 12 years at Starbucks, where she ended up as Vice President in charge of strategy. Masino had a successful 5 year run at Taco Bell, where she served as President. She became President and CEO of Cracker Barrel in November 2023, tasked with turning around a company that has seen stagnant results in recent years. Over the summer, Cracker Barrel announced a rebrand of its logo and remake of their dining rooms that are proving very unpopular with its customer base. There have been calls on social media for Masino to step down from her job.

The Fairfield City School District will see a
negative impact as a result of House Bill 96,
the recently passed Ohio State Budget.
District treasurer Jay Phillips says lawmakers
have frozen funding at 2022 levels, even as 
prices continue to rise. He projects the district will lose $3.5 million over the next two years as a result. Phillips says the funding decisions will force many districts in Ohio to go on the ballot, which will result in higher property tax bills. The budget also put a 15% limit on administrative costs.  According to Phillips, Fairfield is spending 5.2% on administration, the second lowest in Butler County.

The Butler County Sheriff’s office continues to investigate a deadly motorcycle vs. pickup truck crash in Milford Township. The wreck happened around 8:44pm Friday, May 22nd when an eastbound motorcycle hit the westbound pickup on the 19-hundred block of Trenton-Oxford Road. The motorcyclist was thrown off the bike and was pronounced dead at the scene. No name has been released yet.
