Keeping The Holiday Safe

(Hamilton)--The Ohio State Highway Patrol will be out in force during the Independence Day weekend, hoping to keep traffic fatalities down. A dozen people died in 10 crashes during last year's holiday period. All but one of the deaths could be attributed to impaired driving. Officials are asking motorists to designate a sober driver during their holiday celebrations, and to call #677 if they see an impaired driver on the highways. Troopers will also be looking for speeders and distracted drivers.

Pedestrian Killed In Fairfield

(Fairfield)--Fairfield police are investigating a deadly vehicle vs. pedestrian crash Tuesday night. Police and paramedics were called to Port Union Road at Profit Drive around 11:37pm on a report of a man hit by a vehicle. First responders arrived to find the victim with critical injuries. The man was taken to Mercy Health's Fairfield campus, where he was picked up by Air Care helicopter, and taken to University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Police spokesperson Major Rebecca Ervin says the Traffic Investigation Team is working to determine the circumstances of the crash. The victim has not yet been identified.

Gas Station Robbed

(Hamilton)--Hamilton Police are investigating the robbery of the Thornton's Station on Grand Boulevard and South Erie Boulevard Tuesday evening, July 2nd. Hamilton Police Community Affairs Supervisor Sgt. Brian Ungerbuehler says the robbery occured around 8:27pm. The robber fled on foot, and investigators called in a K-9 from Middletown to get a track on the suspect. No further information has been released as of Wednesday evening.

Remains Found In Trash Can

(Middletown)--Middletown police are investigating the discovery of a dead body in a trash can late Monday morning, July 1st. Officers were called to the 1000 block of Centennial Avenue around 11:08am, on a report of a possible deceased person. Police found the remains of a person inside a garbage can. The Butler County Coroner's Office was called to the scene, and detectives are working to identify the body, and determine how it got into the bin.
