Deputy Fired Amid Sex Charges


(Hamilton)---The Butler County Sheriff's Office has fired deputy Michael Baker. The 44 year old Hanover Township man was arrested earlier this week on a misdemeanor sexual imposition charge involving a 16 year old girl. Baker is awaiting an appearance in Area One Court in Oxford.


Explosion Injures One In Monroe


(Monroe)---A man was seriously injured after an explosion and flash fire at a Monroe factory. The incident happened at 12:38pm Friday at Alfrebro Incorporated, 1055 Reed Road. Fire Chief John Centers says the worker was transferring a container of the chemical Acetal to another container when a chemical reaction occured, causing the explosion and fire. The victim was taken to Miami Valley Hospital by Care Flight for treatment of undisclosed injuries. The plant was evacuated while firefighters made sure the building was safe. Mutual Aid was provided by Liberty Township and Middletown Hazmat.


Reds Win Opening Day Thriller


(Cincinnati)---Todd Frazier's mammoth 3 run home run in the bottom of the 8th inning led the Reds to a 5-2 Opening Day victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates Monday at Great American Ballpark. Reds ace Johnny Cueto had a brilliant start, going 7 innings, giving up no runs on 4 hits, striking out 10 batters and only walking one. The Reds bullpen blew a 2-0 lead in the 8th with Kevin Gregg giving up a 2 run home run by Andrew McCutchen. Jumbo Diaz struck out one batter in the 8th to pick up the win. Aroldis Chapman retired the side in the 9th to pick up his first save. Jay Bruce added to the Reds offense with a solo homer off Pirates starter Fransisco Liriano.
