Former Butler County Sheriff Richard Holzberger has passed away after suffering a massive stroke Saturday. He was 70. Holzberger was a Hamilton policeman who was also a traffic reporter for WMOH Radio before he ran for sheriff and won in 1988. He left the sheriff's office 4 years later, and was elected to Hamilton City Council where he served through 2003. Holzberger also owned a convenience store in downtown Hamilton, which he decided to close at the end of December. Funeral arrangements are pending.
