Byrne was elected to the 12th District Court of Appeals in 2020 and took office in January 2021. He currently serves as the court’s administrative judge. The 12th District Court of Appeals hears civil, criminal, and administrative appeals from courts in Brown, Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Fayette, Madison, Preble, and Warren counties. The court has been headquartered in Middletown since it was established in 1981. Before joining the bench, Byrne practiced law at Jackson Lewis P.C. and Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP, representing clients in state and federal litigation across multiple states. He earned his law degree, cum laude, from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and graduated magna cum laude from Xavier University with degrees in International Affairs and Political Science. Prior to law school, Byrne served on the White House staff during the administration of President George W. Bush in the Office of Presidential Personnel.
