(Fairfield)--Fairfield City Council has approved a job creation incentive agreement for Schneider Electric's proposed $25 million expansion at their facility on Union Centre Boulevard. The company is planning to invest $9 million in building improvements and $16 million in new machinery and equipment. The expansion is expected to create 100 new full-time jobs, with an annual payroll of $5.5 million. The company says 169 full-time jobs will be retained. Under the agreement, the city will give the company a 36% grant on income tax collected for eight years. The measure was passed as an emergency ordinance.
