Headlines For Monday August 12th

(Wilmington)--The National Weather Service says Butler County is under an upgraded risk for severe thunderstorms overnight. Damaging winds are the primary risk. The storms are expecteds to move through between 1 and 3am.
 

(Trenton)--Three people are being treated for serious injuries after an early morning residential fire in Trenton. The blaze broke out around 3:30am on the 400 block of East State Street. First responders were met with heavy smoke and three victims who had climbed out of a front window. One juvenile had to be flown to Dayton Children's Hospital by Care Flight. Another child and an adult were taken to Atrium Medical Center. No cause has been listed yet. Trenton firefighters recieved mutual aid from Madison and St. Clair Township firefighters, as well as the City of Monroe.
 

(Middletown)--Middletown will be looking for a new police chief.  The city has announced that current chief Rodney Muterspaw will retire in January after a 30 year career in law enforcement. Muterspaw became chief in 2014, and agreed to serve 5 years. He was won numerous awards, especially in his efforts to bridge the gap between the black community and law enforcement. The city says they will test internally before announcing the new chief later this year.
 

(Hamilton)--It's the first day of school in the Hamilton City School District. Close to 10,000 students started classes, kicking off the 2019-2020 school year. Motorists should be careful, especially around school zones, bus stops, and crosswalks.
 

(Cincinnati)--Gas prices are trending downward to begin your work week. Gas Buddy says the price of regular unleaded is down 25 cents from last week. The average price is $2.51/gallon, with the lowest price at $2.18/gallon at the UDF in Trenton.

 

SPORTS

(Cincinnati)--The Reds will open the 2020 season vs. the Cardinals on Thursday, March 26th. They will play at Toronto March 30-April 1st. They will host the Rays, Orioles, and the Red Sox in inter-league series games.

 

(Cincinnati)--Cincinnati Reds rookie sensation Aristides Aquino has been named the National League Player of the Week. Aquino batted .500 (11-for-22) hitting six home runs, and driving in 11 RBI. Aquino hit 3 home runs Saturday night against the Cubs.

(Washington, DC)--The Reds will begin a three game series with the Washington Nationals tonight. Anthony DeSclafani will take the mound for the Reds against Erick Fedde.
