Council Holds Hearing on Marijuana Ban

(Hamilton)---Hamilton City Council held a public hearing Wednesday on a proposal which would ban Medicinal Marijuana sales in all of the city's zoning districts. Six people spoke during the 30 minute hearing, with three speaking for the ban and three speaking against. Taylor Anderson Hall, a cancer victim, told council in an emotional statement that she credits marijuana with easing her symptoms from her cancer, and possibly saving her life. Nick Turner told council that a Medicinal Marijuana ban would leave the city "stuck in the past." The Reverend Barry Clardy, Pastor of the Princeton Pike Church of God, says he has counseled many people effected by drugs, and marijuana was the gateway drug for many of them. He says Hamilton should be the "City of Hope, not the City of Dope." Reverend Josh Willis, who was delivered from a life of drugs also spoke in favor of the ban, urging the city not to become "economical prostitutes." Council will hold a final vote on the plan at their February 25th meeting.
