(Fairfield)---A pop up thunderstorm dropped heavy rains along the I-275 corridor, and triggered a lightning strike that left more than 1,600 Duke Energy customers in the dark in Fairfield. Witnesses near the Olive Garden restaurant on Route 4 reported lightning hit a nearby transformer. Power was out along Ross Road, Boymel Drive, Mack Road, and the Wildwood area. No injuries were reported.
