Tri-State Bracing For Heat Wave

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Butler County and much of the Tri-State beginning Monday afternoon. The advisory runs from noon Monday through 8 p.m. Thursday. Forecasters say heat index values could climb as high as 105 degrees during the advisory period as hot temperatures combine with high humidity to create dangerous conditions. The advisory covers much of southwest Ohio, southeast Indiana, and northern Kentucky. The National Weather Service warns prolonged exposure to the heat could increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, including heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Residents are urged to drink plenty of water, stay in air-conditioned buildings when possible, and avoid extended time outdoors during the hottest part of the day. If you must be outside, wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing and try to schedule strenuous activity for early morning or evening hours. Officials also encourage checking on elderly neighbors, relatives, and anyone without reliable access to air conditioning.
