Bengals Punch Super Bowl Ticket With Comeback Win Over Chiefs

(Kansas City)--Evan McPherson kicked a 31 yard field goal in overtime to lift the Bengals to a 27-24 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, capturing the AFC Championship and a trip to Super Bowl LVI. Kansas City had a 21-10 lead at halftime, but the Bengals engineered an epic comeback in the second half. Joe Burrow passed for 250 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. The Bengals defense shut down Kansas City's offense in the second half, taking a 24-21 lead until the Chief's Harrison Butker hit a game-tying 44 yard field goal as time expired in regulation. Chief's quarterback Patrick Mahomes passed for 275 yards, 3 touchdowns, and two interceptions. The Bengals will play the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl XVI (56) at the Ram's home venue SoFi Stadium on February 13th. LA beat the 49'ers 20-17 in the NFC title game. The Bengals last appearance in the Super Bowl was on January 22, 1989, when the San Francisco 49'ers beat Cincinnati 20-16.
