FAIRFIELD HEAD FOOTBALL COACH JASON KRAUSE

 

COACH KRAUSE IS IN HIS 9TH SEASON LEADING THE FAIRFIELD FOOTBALL PROGRAM AND 23RD YEAR AS A HEAD FOOTBALL COACH. THE INDIANS HAVE GONE 53 – 39 SO FAR UNDER KRAUSE AND HAVE MADE THE POSTSEASON 5 OF THE LAST 6 SEASONS INCLUDING THE LAST 4 YEARS  IN A ROW. KRAUSE BEGAN HIS HEAD COACHING CAREER AT LOCKLAND, FOLLOWED BY TIME AT STEBBINS BEFORE GOING TO MONROE IN 2004. IN 4 SEASONS AT MONROE THE HORNETS WON 3 LEAGUE TITLES AND MADE 3 PLAYOFF APPERANCES INCLUDING THE DIVISION 3 STATE SEMI-FINALS IN 2007. IN 2008, COACH KRAUSE MOVED TO MIDDLETOWN WHERE IN 3 SEASON THE MIDDIES WENT 26 -7, MADE THE PLAYOFFS TWICE AND WENT 10 – 0 IN THE 2010 REGULAR SEASON AND EARNED A CO-GREATER MIAMI CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP. IN 2009 KRAUSE WAS NAMED THE DIVISION 1 OHIO COACH OF THE YEAR AND HIS 2008 MIDDIE SQUAD WAS THE LAST GMC TEAM TO BEAT COLERAIN.

  

THE 2019 INDIANS ARE 7 – 0 FOR THE FIRST TIME IN SCHOOL HISTORY, THEY ARE RANKED #3 IN THE D – 1 AP STATE POLL AND ARE #1 IN THE LATEST OHSAA D – 1 REGION 4 COMPUTER RANKING FOR THE PLAYOFFS. FAIRFIELD IS LED BY SEVERAL STANDOUT PLAYERS THAT INCLUDES SR RB JUTAHN MCCLAIN (KENTUCKY COMMIT) WHO LEADS THE GMC IN RUSHING YARDS (1,291), TD’S (15) AND YPG (184.4). SR SAWAIHA ELLIS (TOLEDO COMMIT) IS A DUAL-THREAT QB (766 YARDS, 3 TD PASSING; 306 YDS, 8 TD RUSHING) AND WIDEOUT DASHAWN SIMPKINS HAS COLLECTED 219 YARDS AND 2 SCORES RECEIVING. THE GMC’S #1 DEFENSE IS LED BY SR DEFESIVE LINEMAN L J FRANCE (34 TACKLES, 8.5 SACKS), SR LB PHOENIX PORTER (45 TACKLES) AND JR DL BRANDON SMITH (39 TACK, 8 SACKS).

PRINCETON HEAD FOOTBALL COACH MIKE DANIELS

 

COACH DANIELS IS IN HIS 3RD YEAR LEADING THE VIKING FOOTBALL PROGRAM. DANIELS IS A 2003 GRADUATE OF PRINCETON HIGH WHERE HE STILL HOLDS OR SHARES SEVERAL SCHOOL RECORDS, WAS NAMED THE 2002 OHIO DIVISION 1 STATE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR AND WAS INDUCTED INTO THE PRINCETON ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME IN 2013. HE ALSO WAS A GRIDIRON STANDOUT AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI PLAYING FOR BRIAN KELLY. COACH DANIELS WAS A BEARCAT CAPTAIN IN 2007 AND EARNED THE JIM KELLY SPIRIT AWARD THAT SAME YEAR. PRIOR TO BEING NAMED THE HEAD COACH AT PRINCETON IN 2017, DANIELS COACHED AT STATESBORO HIGH IN GEORGIA BEFORE LANDING AT KENNESAW STATE UNIVERSITY AS AN OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR.

 

PRINCETON ENTERS WEEK 7 4 – 2 OVERALL AND 2 – 2 IN THE GMC. THE VIKINGS HAVE WON TWO STRAIGHT CONFERENCE ROAD GAMES OVER LAKOTA EAST AND MIDDLETOWN AND ARE CURRENTLY #6 IN THE D – 1 REGION 4 OHSAA FOOTBALL COMMUTER RATINGS. THE VIKINGS ARE LOADED WITH NCAA D-1 TALENT LED BY A PAIR OF OHIO STATE COMMITS SR OL PARRIS JOHNSON JR AND DL DARRION HENRY (28 TACKLES, 3 SACKS) AS WELL AS SR LB’S JAHEIM THOMAS (UC COMMIT, 39 TACKLES, 2 SACKS) AND JUAN JARRETT (KANSAS COMMIT, 19 TACKLES) AND SR DB ELIJAH EBERHARDT (BOWLING GREEN COMMIT, INT). SR QB MYJADEN HORTON (4 PASSING TDS, 6 RUSHING TDS) HAS SEVERAL COLLEGIATE OFFERS  AND JR THOMAS BOYD (6 TDS) WILL HAVE COLLEGE COACHES KNOCKING ON HIS DOOR.

 

PRINCETON HAS A HUGE GMC MATCHUP THIS WEEK WHEN THEY HOST UNBEATEN AND STATE RANKED FAIRFIELD (6 – 0) AT PAT MANCUSO FIELD AT VIKINGS STADIUM. THE LAST TIME VIKINGS BEAT THE INDIANS WAS AT HOME IN 2011.

WINTON WOODS HEAD FOOTBALL COACH ANDRE PARKER

 

COACH PARKER IS IN HIS 10TH SEASON AS THE HEAD COACH AT WINTON WOODS. A WINTON WOODS GRAD, PARKER WAS THE DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR OF THE 2009 DIVISION 2 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP WARRIOR TEAM AND TOOK OVER AS THE HEAD MAN IN 2010. THE WARRIORS HAVE WON 76 GAMES AND MADE 5 PLAYOFF APPERANCES UNDER COACH PARKER, INCLUDING A D – 2 STATE RUNNER-UP IN 2017 AND ANOTHER STATE SEMI-FINAL TRIP LAST SEASON. COACH PARKER EARNED A D – 2 OHIO AP COACH OF THE YEAR HONOR IN 2010 AND AN OHIO PREP SPORTSWRITERS ASSOCIATION COTY AWARD IN 2017. PARKER CURRENTLY SERVES AS THE PRESIDENT OF THE SOUTHWEST OHIO FOOTBALL COACHES ASSOCIATION.

 

WINTON WOODS ENTERS WEEK 6 AT 4 – 1, WITH WINS OVER TROTWOOD-MADISON, WEST CLERMONT, UPPER ARLINGTON AND MOELLER. THE WARRIORS LONE LOSS CAME AT THE HANDS OF DEFENDING DIVISION 1 STATE CHAMPION LAKEWOOD ST. EDWARD LAST WEEK. THE WARRIORS ARE LED IN PART BY A TRIO OF COLLEGE D-1 TALENTS, SR RB MIYAN WILLIAMS (IOWA STATE), SR WR DEMEER BLANKUMSEE (TOLEDO) AND SR CB MIQUAN GRACE (RUTGERS) AS WELL AS A PAIR OF OUTSTANDING JUNIORS, LB ANDREW BOOKER AND QB MI’CHALE WINGFIELD.

 

WINTON WOODS HAS A LONG ROAD TRIP THIS WEEK WHEN THEY HEAD TO ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI FOR A SATURDAY 2PM KICKOFF WITH CHRISTIAN BROTHERS COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL.

NEW MIAMI HEAD FOOTBALL COACH JESSIE HUBBARD

 

COACH HUBBARD IS IN HIS 2ND YEAR AT NEW MIAMI. IN HIS FIRST YEAR A SEASON AGO, THE VIKINGS STARTED THE SEASON 0 – 3 BUT WON THEIR FINAL 5 GAMES TO FINISH 6 – 4 AND EARNED A SPOT IN THE DIVISION 7 PLAYOFFS. COACH HUBBARD SPENT 4 YEARS AS AN ASSISTANT AT LITTLE MIAMI AND 2 YEARS ON THE STAFF AT HIS ALMA MATER, EDGEWOOD, BEFORE BECOMING THE HEAD MAN AT NEW MIAMI. SUCCESS IN ATHLETICS RUNS DEEP IN THE HUBBARD FAMILY. HUBBARDS FATHER, WALT, IS A MEMBER OF THE NEW MIAMI ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME, HIS COUSIN ROCKY LED PRINCETON BASEBALL TO A STATE FINAL 4 IN 2005 AND HIS UNCLE, LEGENDARY HALL OF FAME COACH BEN, LED FAIRFIELD TO A 1986 DIVISION 1 FOOTBALL STATE TITLE. BOTH ROCKY AND BEN ARE ON THE CUURENT VIKING STAFF.

 

THE 2019 VIKINGS ARE OFF TO A 4 – 0 START, THE FIRST TIME NEW MIAMI HAS DONE THAT SINCE 1980. THEY ARE COMING OFF BACK TO BACK ROAD VICTORIES AND HAVE OUTSCORED OPPONENTS 133 – 24 INCLUDING A PAIR OF SHUTOUTS. THE VIKING OFFENSE IS LED BY A QUARTET OF JR’S; QB TREY ROBINETTE (616 YARDS, 7TD’S PASSING, 107 YARDS, 5TD’S RUSHING), RB JORDAN ROBINETTE (384 YARDS, 2 TD’S), RB DYLAN SPIVEY (211 YARDS, 3 TD’S) AND WIDEOUT DEANZA DUNCAN (457 YARDS, 6 TD’S). ON THE DEFENSIVE SIDE, SR DL ZACH TRENT HAS COLLECTED 5 QB SACKS, SPIVEY HAS GOTTEN TO THE QB 3 TIMES AND DUNCAN HAS 3 INTERCEPTIONS THROUGH 4 GAMES.

 

NEW MIAMI RETURNS TO JOHN P. MARA FIELD LOOKING TO CONTINUE THEIR UNBEATEN START AND GO 2 – 0 IN MIAMI VALLEY CONFERENCE PLAY WHEN THEY PLAY HOST TO CLARK MONTESSORI.

TALAWANDA HEAD FOOTBALL COACH LARRY COX

 

COACH COX IS IN HIS 1ST SEASON AS THE HEAD COACH OF THE TALAWANDA BRAVE AFTER TAKING A YEAR OFF FROM COACHING. COX SPENT 21 YEARS AT LAKOTA WEST FROM 1997-2017, GOING 114 – 103 AS THE SCHOOLS FIRST HEAD FOOTBALL COACH.  THE FIREBIRDS MADE 5 PLAYOFF APPERANCES DURING HIS TENURE INCLUDING A DIVISION 1 REGIONAL SEMI-FINAL IN 2014, AND WERE CO-GREATER MIAMI CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS IN 2009 AND 2013. COACH COX EARNED ASSOCIATED PRESS SOUTHWEST OHIO COACH OF THE YEAR HONORS IN 1999 AND 2006. BEFORE HIS TIME AT LAKOTA WEST, COX SPENT 2 YEARS AS THE HEAD COACH AT BELLBROOK AND BEFORE THAT AN ASSISTANT AT HAMILTON FOR 7 YEARS.

 

TALAWANDA IS COMING OFF A 2 – 8 2018 CAMPAIGN AND WENT 5 – 35 OVER THE PREVIOUS 4 SEASONS. HOWEVER, THE 2019 BRAVE ARE OFF TO A SIZZLING START. THE OFFENSE IS LED BY SENIOR QB ADAM CRANK, WHO MISSED MOST OF 2018 DUE TO AND INJURY, AS WELL AS SR RB TERRELL WILLIS (315 YARDS, 5 TDs) AND SO RB DEONDRE BOTHAST-REVALEE (314 YARDS, 5TDs). SO LB ZACH FLANNERY LEADS THE DEFENSE WITH A PAIR OF SACKS AND JR DB KASEY THURMAN HAS COLLECTED AN INTERCEPTION AND RECOVERED A FUMBLE THROUGH THE FIRST 3 WEEKS OF THE SEASON.

 

TALAWANDA HAS OPENED 2019 UNBEATEN AND ARE 3 – 0 FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1991, A TALAWANDA SQUAD THAT WENT 10 – 0 IN THE REGULAR SEASON AND DEFEATED PRINCETON IN ARGUABLY ONE OF THE GREATEST UPSETS IN OHIO HIGH SCHOOL PLAYOFF HISTORY. IN WEEK 1 THE BRAVE ROLLED PAST PREBLE SHAWNEE AT HOME 41 – 7 AND HELD OFF BADIN IN WEEK 2, 24 – 17. LAST WEEK TALAWANDA WAS ON THE ROAD FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS SEASON AT EATON AND SHUT OUT THE EAGLES IN THE 2ND HALF ENROUTE TO A 44 – 14 VICTORY. THIS WEEK THE BRAVE ARE BACK HOME WHERE THEY WILL HOST THE 1 – 2 NEW RICHMOND LIONS.

HAMILTON HEAD FOOTBALL COACH NATE MAHON

 

COACH MAHON IS IN HIS 1ST SEASON LEADING HAMILTON BIG BLUE FOOTBALL. MAHON SPENT THE PREVIOUS 3 YEARS AT LITTLE MIAMI WHERE HE WENT 19 – 13 INCLUDING A 9 – 3 MARK IN 2018, LEADING THE PANTHERS TO THEIR FIRST PLAYOFF APPERANCE AND VICTORY SINCE 1992. COACH MAHON ALSO SPENT 3 SEASONS AT NORTHWEST WHERE THE KNIGHTS EARNED THEIR FIRST PLAYOFF VICTORY IN SCHOOL HISTORY IN HIS 1ST YEAR. MAHON IS A 2003 HAMILTON GRAD WHERE HE EARNED 7 VARSITY LETTERS IN BOTH FOOTBALL AND BASEBALL AND WAS SELECTED 5 TIMES TO ALL-GREATER MIAMI CONFERENCE TEAMS COVER BOTH SPORTS. COACH MAHON WAS INDUCTED INTO THE HHS ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME IN 2018.

 

FOR 2019, THE BIG BLUE RETURNS 14 OF 22 STARTERS INCLUDING A PAIR OF 2018 1ST TEAM ALL-GMC HONOREES; JR LB LUKE MATTIA AND SO RB KEYSHAWN STEPHENS. SOPHMORE RB KALEB JOHNSON LEADS THE TEAM IN RUSHING THROUGH THE FIRST 2 GAMES WITH 193 YARDS AND JR QB QUINCY SIMMS-MARSHALL IS BACK AND HEALTHY, THROWING FOR 268 YARDS AND 2 TOUCHDOWNS SO FAR THIS SEASON. SR LB JAYDEN MARSHALL LEADS THE BIG BLUE DEFENSE IN TACKLES (15) AND SACKS (2.5) TO START THE SEASON.

 

HAMILTON OPENED THE SEASON WITH A 21 – 7 ROAD WIN AT WEST CLERMONT AND MOVED TO 2 – 0 BY DOWNING ANDERSON LAST WEEK, 28 – 14. THE 2019 2 – 0 START IS THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2016 THAT THE BIG BLUE HAS STARTED UNBEATEN THROUGH THE FIRST 2 GAMES AND LOOK TO MATCH THE 2016 SQUAD BY MOVING TO 3 – 0 WHEN THEY HOST LAKOTA WEST THIS WEEK TO OPEN CONFERENCE PLAY AT VIRGIL SCHWARM STADIUM. THE LAST TIME HAMILTON BEAT WEST AT HOME WAS IN 2010, THE LAST YEAR THE BIG BLUE HAD A WINNING RECORD AND MADE THE PLAYOFFS.

ROSS HEAD FOOTBALL COACH KENYON COMMINS

 

COACH COMMINS IS IN HIS 3RD SEASON AS THE HEAD COACH AT ROSS WHERE HE HAD BEEN AN ASSISTANT COACH FOR 4 YEARS INCLUDING THE OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR IN 2015 AND 2016. COACH COMMINS HAS 18 YEARS IN COACHING HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL THAT INCLUDES NOT ONLY ROSS BUT ALSO TIME AT OAK HILLS AND HIS ALMA MATER, MT. HEALTHY. IN HIS FIRST SEASON, AFTER INSTITUTING THE TRIPLE OPTION ON OFFENSE, THE RAMS WENT 1 – 9 AND 0 - 6 IN THE SOUTHWEST OHIO CONFERENCE. IN YEAR TWO, THE RAMS IMPROVED TO 5 – 5, 2 – 4 IN SWOC PLAY, GOING 3 – 2 OVER THE FINAL 5 WEEKS OF THE SEASON THAT INCLUDED A HOME VICTORY OVER SWOC CHAMPION EDGEWOOD, 10 – 6. COACHING RUNS DEEP IN THE COMMINS FAMILY TREE AS BROTHER KURRY COMMINS IS THE CURRENT HEAD FOOTBALL COACH AT MARIEMONT.

 

THIS SEASON, ROSS IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE THEIR PROGRESS, LED BY SR LINEBACKER ETHAN MILLS AND JR OFFENSIVE LINEMAN KADEN ROGERS, BOTH 2ND TEAM ALL-SWOC PERFORMERS IN 2018. THE RAMS ON OFFENSE ARE LED BY JR QUATERBACK CJ BOZE AND TALENTED RUNNING BACKS, SR ETHAN HALL AND JUNIOR FULLBACK JACKSON GIFFORD.

 

ROSS OPENED THE 2019 SEASON WITH BUTLER COUNTY RIVAL BADIN, IN THE BATTLE OF THE RAMS, WITH ROSS EARNING THEIR FIRST EVER VICTORY OVER BADIN IN A 20 – 19 OVERTIME THRILLER AT VIRGIL SCHWARM STADIUM. THE RAMS HAD LOST THE PREVIOUS 14 MEETINGS TO BADIN/HAMILTON CATHOLIC IN A SERIES DATING BACK TO 1959.

 

THIS WEEK, ROSS CHRISTENS THEIR NEW FIELD-TURF PLAYING SURFACE AT THE BARN WHEN THEY HOST ANOTHER BUTLER COUNTY RIVAL, THE MONROE HORNETS, AND LOOK TO START A SEASON 2 – 0 FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2014.
