Hamilton police have identified the man shot to death during an armed robbery during the early morning hours on Monday. 34 year old Kelley Brandon Forte allegedly jumped the pharmacy counter at the Walgreen's store on High Street around 2:30am Monday. Police say they arrived to find Forte holding a knife to the neck of the female pharmacist. Police ordered Forte to put down the knife, but according to Police Cheif Craig Bucheit, he refused. One of the officers, a 33 year old who has been with the department for nine years, opened fire, killing Forte. The police officers and pharmacist involoved in the incident were not hurt. Bucheit is promising a thorough, fair, and unbiased investigation. The case will automatically be reviewed by a Butler County Grand Jury, which is policy for any police involved shooting in the county. The officers involved were placed on paid leave.
